This policy explains how newsymph uses cookies and similar storage technologies on newsymph.net: which categories are involved, how your choice is recorded in the browser and how it can be changed later.
About cookies and browser storage
A cookie is a short text file that the site you are visiting places in your browser; it lets the site remember a setting or a decision you have made. Browsers provide similar mechanisms, in particular local storage, which keeps small entries until they are removed. This policy treats them in the same way.
Categories used on this website
Because this website only informs and offers ways to contact us, it needs hardly any stored entries. Those that are strictly necessary keep the pages usable and safe and may include a value that remembers your cookie decision; consent is not needed for them.
The server that delivers this website sets one cookie of this kind. It contains only a random value, nothing that identifies you by name, and serves to recognise a returning browser and to protect the site against automated abuse. The cookie is renewed whenever you come back and is deleted 30 days after your last visit.
Tracking, profiling and data protection
There are no advertising or retargeting cookies here and no tracking across websites, and we do not build profiles of visitors. Entries that can be connected to a person count as personal data; the privacy policy of newsymph sets out why they are used, how long they are kept and what your rights are.
Changing your choice later
Consent given earlier can be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given: clear the data this website has stored in your browser and open a page again, so the saved answer is gone and, where a notice is shown, you can decide once more. Independently of that, every common browser offers settings for cookies and site data, where stored entries can be inspected or deleted.
How your choice is recorded
If a notice is displayed and browser storage is available, it saves nothing but your choice, consent or refusal, in the local storage of the current browser (localStorage) and then stays hidden. On a different browser or device it appears once more, because the value was never stored there, and it returns where storage is blocked.
Cookies set by other providers
We do not embed services from other providers that would set cookies of their own. If a map, a video or a similar element were added later, its provider could store entries on your device once it loads, and this policy would be updated before such content is published.
Storage periods
Some cookies last only until the browser is closed; others are kept for a limited time so that a setting is still known on your next visit. The value saved by a cookie notice has no expiry date and stays in the browser until it is deleted there.
Updates to this policy and questions
We review this policy when the website changes, when functions are added and when legal requirements develop; only the version published here applies, and the date above shows when it was last revised. Questions about it can be sent to newsymph at hello@newsymph.net, or asked by telephone on 01904 797 0226.
